Every quarter, I get a call that goes something like this: 'The compressor pressure is dropping. We replaced the check valve, but it's still not holding. Can you send someone out?'
It's tempting to blame the operator or the age of the machine. But after reviewing failed components for years, I've come to believe most of these calls trace back to a specification decision made weeks earlier.
The caller usually assumes the part was defective. Most of the time, it wasn't. The real issue is buried in the spec sheet.
The problem isn't the part. It's the spec.
Aftermarket parts can look identical. Same part number, same thread pitch, same dimensions. But the material specs can be different—hardness, plating thickness, temperature tolerance.
